Bashe Dairy Farm’s 6,400+ head of livestock go well beyond dairy cattle. Our 2,000-strong Friesian herd drives the farm’s core milk output, while a beef division built on Brahman and Brangus crossbreeds — heat-tolerant and disease-resilient — supplies our fattening and abattoir programme.
Alongside the cattle, 2,450 goats and sheep add diversified revenue streams and meat-market flexibility, and roughly 500 head of breeding heifers and bulls are sold annually to commercial farms and cooperatives across Tanzania.
A smaller but notable part of the herd — 22 camels and 11 buffalo — reflects BDF’s longer-term commitment to species diversity and ecological resilience across the estate’s 3,000 acres, a foundation the farm intends to build on through an eventual genetic museum and expanded breeding programme.
